Bridgett Saylor

Ms. Saylor

Neighborhood: Hollygrove
Architecture Style: Shotgun

Ms. Bridgett Saylor’s home in the Hollygrove neighborhood has been passed down for five generations. With their home left uninhabitable from Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, the Saylor family lived in an East Jefferson shelter for three months until they returned to their old block to live in a FEMA trailer. Eventually, the trailer was removed and the family moved to Metairie, LA. The city repeatedly tried to tear down the house, destroyed from wind damage and seven feet of water, but Ms. Saylor persistently stopped demolition each time. Over four years have past and Ms. Saylor, a single mother of three, is finally rebuilding her home.

RTNO completed the exterior work, but the interior still requires a full rebuild. Unfortunately, more funding is needed to complete the house. RTNO hopes, with the help of our supporters, to finish the Saylor’s home and bring the family back to Hollygrove.

Your donation can purchase:
