Madge Goff

Madge Goff

Neighborhood: Gentilly
Architecture Style: Bungalow

Madge Goff, 84 years old, has dedicated her life to taking care of her family. She was happy to be able to stay home and raise her son and daughter while her husband worked. Now a widow, Ms. Goff still loves cooking gumbo for her great grandchildren.

It is the love for her family that has kept Ms. Goff stable the past four years. During Hurricane Katrina, Ms. Goff was safe in Oklahoma, but her home was nearly destroyed when it flooded with 13 feet of water. She was determined to repair her home, but lost all her insurance money to contractor fraud and a forced mortgage payoff.

Out of money and with her home still in extreme disrepair, Ms. Goff has lived in a FEMA trailer since she returned to New Orleans in November 2005. Even though she has been faced with many obstacles, Ms. Goff is optimistic and excited to have Rebuilding Together New Orleans repairing her home.

RTNO needs help rebuilding Ms. Goff’s house. With a small donation, you can get Ms. Goff out of her cramped FEMA trailer and back into her home. Any amount makes a difference.

Your donation can purchase:

$9 – 12 square feet of insulation
$20 – 20 feet of baseboard
$54 – 3 gallons of interior paint
