Rosary McCaskill

Rosary McCaskill

Neighborhood: Hollygrove
Architecture Style: Bungalow

New Orleans native Rosary McCaskill is a 51 year old single mother of two. A retired eye clinic coordinator, Ms. McCaskill suffers from anxiety, thyroid problems, osteoporosis and arthritis. Regardless, Ms. McCaskill loves her community and is an active member of various clubs including the Lady Rulers, Devine Ladies and Pigeon Town Steppers.

Ms. McCaskill resided in Illinois for a year following Hurricane Katrina. When she returned to New Orleans, Ms. McCaskill hired a contractor to rebuild her home, which sustained 4 1/2 feet of water. The contractor took Ms. McCaskill’s money without completing the repairs and left her with an uninhabitable house and no funds to repair it. Ms. McCaskill is currently renting and depends on her family members to sustain her current living arrangements.

In spite of her hardships, Ms. McCaskill remains optimistic and looks forwards to moving back home. She’s seen RTNO’s work in Hollygrove and is ecstatic to be part of the program.

Ms. McCaskill’s home will cost $47,138 to rebuild, including new plumbing, wiring, sheetrock, flooring and paint. With the help of RTNO’s generous supports, she can return home.

  • $18 can pay for a gallon of interior primer
  • $30 can buy 100 square feet of sheetrock
  • $200 can buy and install a window
