Rebuilding Together New Orleans has been in the news a lot over the last week for the event Fifty for Five when over a thousand volunteers from across the nation came to New Orleans to help rebuild 50 homes in the Gentilly neighborhood.

Keeping our Promise: Bringing Back Gentilly
This August 24-28th, Rebuilding Together New Orleans invites you to commemorate the fifth year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina with a renewal of a promise and a rebirth of a community. We are calling it Fifty for Five: 50 houses, five days, over 1,000 volunteers and a chance to make an unforgettable difference in the lives of 50 New Orleanian homeowners and their families.
Flood Insurance
On June 1, the first day of hurricane season, Congress allowed the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) to lapse.
