Message from our Director: Six Years Later
Disaster Recovery Notes on the 6th Anniversary of Hurricane Katrina
Six years removed from Katrina, our community has certainly learned and overcome many challenges, and it continues working on the everyday long-term efforts to reform, rebuild, restore and re-create New Orleans.
Creative Use of Reuse: Mardi Gras Bead Coasters
In the wake of Mardi Gras, my roommates and I were faced with a mound of beads sitting in the middle of our living room. The week before was spent a hootin’ and a hollerin’ to collect any of the goods thrown from the parade—all only to end up in a pile on the floor.
Another Year Comes to an End
Entering abandoned, dark, and damaged structures on a daily is a highly daunting task, and takes strong commitment and determination.

October Build 2011
Volunteer teams needed! Every year, RTNO asks local businesses and organizations to help in the rebuilding effort by joining us for October Build (9/30-10/1 & 10/7-10/8). Last year, over 400 volunteers primed, painted, and rebuilt 20 homes throughout the city. RTNO needs your support to make October Build 2011 an even bigger success!

Gary Zeringue & Nawlins Reclaimed
While Hurricane Katrina left him unemployed, as it did with a number of residents, Zeringue made the executive decision to remain in New Orleans and to move forward picking up the pieces as he goes: literally. Thus, inspiring ‘Nawlins Reclaimed’.
The Birth of the Louisiana Housing Corporation
During the regular session of 2011, the Louisiana Senate passed bill No. 269, establishing the Louisiana Housing Corporation (LHC). So far, only a few details are certain regarding this new entity, leaving it to a special commission to determine the rest in the next six months.
Summertime, and The Volunteering is Easy
Not only do the summer months bring heat, humidity, and rain to the city of New Orleans, they also bring volunteers! This June Rebuilding Together New Orleans welcomed some major volunteer groups from across the country.
