The National Conference on Volunteering and Service brings together individuals from all over the country to discuss, amongst other related topics, how volunteerism can have an enormous impact on a community.

Here at Rebuilding Together New Orleans we thrive under pressure and love large volunteer builds because it is an opportunity for great change over a short period of time, a chance to help our homeowners and make new friendships.

Ode to AmeriCorps Week. A national service poem.

The week of May 16-20th was an extremely busy and exciting time for Rebuilding Together New Orleans! In just four days, RTNO welcomed over 650 new and returning volunteers of all ages from across the country to the city of New Orleans.

In town for a National Sales Meeting during the week of April 16th, approximately 600 employees from the Hershey Company dedicated a day during their stay to partner with Rebuilding Together New Orleans and help revitalize 5 New Orleans neighborhoods.

After moving into the center room of a high-ceiling Marigny shotgun, I decided a headboard was the piece to pull the room together. With plans in tow (http://www.ana-white.com), I began my lumber search at the PRC Salvage Store for materials.

My team, River 4, arrived in New Orleans with high hopes and open minds. It was our last project with AmeriCorps National Civilian Community Corps (NCCC) and we were ready to take in the city and enjoy our time together.

Every week Rebuilding Together New Orleans works alongside a different and diverse cast of volunteers. They come together in the mission to revitalize New Orleans, but no two volunteers are the same. Come meet a few of these heroes and learn what makes them unique.
