350 Volunteers Transform Section of Federal City

Federal City Before and After

On September 12, approximately 350 volunteers from around the world with Bechtel Construction Company worked alongside Rebuilding Together New Orleans to revitalize long neglected athletic facilities for the local YMCA at Federal City in Algiers.
Bechtel Construction Company, the largest construction and engineering company in the United States, took a break from their international conference to give back to their hosting city. Despite the excessive heat, volunteers spent the day landscaping the baseball field, building new benches and tables for spectators, and repainting many of the baseball field facilities as well as the tennis courts. The service day ended on a high note with the Marine Corps band playing the National Anthem and energetic cheers celebrating the team effort. Projects With Purpose, a local company designed to help connect companies and their volunteers with meaningful projects and programs in the greater New Orleans area facilitated the volunteer event between Bechtel Construction Company and Rebuilding Together New Orleans.
