The Perfect Gift

Message from our Executive Director:
Happy Holidays! With your help, Rebuilding Together New Orleans was able to assist 96 families this past year. We were able to bring many displaced home owners and their relatives back to our city after a long struggle to rebuild their Katrina-ravaged lives, homes and communities. The impact we’ve had on these homeowners and their communities would not have been possible without everyone involved.
Our efforts in the deconstruction field have also yielded positive results and we’ve had a tremendous environmental impact. Our team has worked on over 160 projects and kept over 8 million pounds of construction materials out of the landfills. These materials are now available for our rehab projects and Preservation Salvage Store customers.
Unfortunately, there are still hundreds of families who are unable to come home and celebrate the holidays with their brothers and sisters, still displaced and away from their beloved New Orleans. My heart goes out to them. I wish them a better future, strength and patience while RTNO works hard to help get them home and put Katrina behind them.
I would like to thank our staff and service members, for their dedication and hard work throughout the year. All of you have made a difference in someone’s life this year, and no matter how small your involvement, it wouldn’t have happened without you.
To all our local and national partners, everyone involved in pushing our city forward through this recovery process and beyond, we are forever indebted to you for collaborating with us. We are grateful for the resources you brought that made it possible for us at RTNO to give our families the gift of a safe, warm and healthy home.
To our public and private funders, our local and national volunteers and our supporters, who come to New Orleans from all over to rebuild and as an advocate for our mission, we extend our deepest gratitude.
I wish you all a blessed holiday season and may 2011 bring you peace, joy and lots of volunteer hours!
All the best,
Daniela
