Youth Workforce Development
Job Training at Rebuilding Together New Orleans
Every summer we recruit a cohort of young individuals through an application and interview process to participate in our 9-week, paid Summer Job Training Program. The program includes on-the-job training focused on the fundamental principles of construction & home repair work, delivered through hands-on training at homes being repaired by Rebuilding Together. In addition to advancing working skills, participants will be attending professional development sessions twice a week that will be utilized to mentor participants and adapt their skills and interests to the career world. This program is a complement to our core belief that everyone has a right to live in a safe and healthy home. Participants get an opportunity to learn and grow with us while also making an impact on their community!
Job training creates career pathways for participants in a high wage industry while also increasing our capacity to serve low-income families who need critical home repairs. This program is designed to provide initial apprenticeship training in a nine week, three hundred hour summer program. Following this program, interested individuals can enroll in longer six or eleven month opportunities. Ultimately the goal at all levels is to provide participants with meaningful training opportunities that better our community and increase employability.
