Eligibility

Who we can help

Rebuilding Together New Orleans provides critical health and safety repairs for eligible homeowners in Orleans Parish. To make sure we serve those with the greatest need, all applicants must meet homeownership, income, and household eligibility requirements.

Eligibility Overview

1.

Homeownership Status

A permanent resident of the household must be the homeowner on record.
To qualify:

  • Your name must be on the deed

  • You must have lived in the home for at least the past three years


2.

Income Status

Applicants must be low-income homeowners, defined as households earning at or below 80% of Area Median Income (AMI).

Income eligibility is required for all programs and is verified during the application process.


3.

Homeowner Eligibility Category

In addition to meeting the ownership and income requirements, at least one of the following must apply:

  • Age 60 or older

  • Person with a disability

  • Veteran

  • Veteran widow or widower

  • Single head of household with minor children living in the home

  • Full-time caregiver

A note about eligibility: Eligibility may vary based on available funding, program capacity, and the type of repairs needed. Meeting these criteria does not guarantee services, but it is the first step toward determining whether we can help.
